The Islay Hotel – A charming hotel nestled in the village of Port Ellen overlooking the marina and situated one minute from Port Ellen ferry terminal.
The hotel was rebuilt to a high standard 5 years ago. Offering 13 bedrooms, dining room serving fresh local produce and whisky bar with a plentiful selection of Islay whiskies.
The hotel is located in the South of the Island at the foot of the newly constructed whisky path which takes you a scenic walk to Laphroaig, Lagavulin & Ardbeg distilleries.
The Islay Hotel is a great choice for the traveller looking for somewhere relaxed, friendly & convenient to distilleries, the ferry terminal and many local attractions.
Dining
The Islay Hotel has a growing reputation for the finest fresh local seafood, simply cooked and beautifully presented, including a famous Seafood Medley. We know the local fishermen well. They are friends and customers and work with them closely to get the best produce on the menu. Other classics like ‘Rack of Argyll Lamb’ have become regular favourites, so it’s not just about the fish!
Dining is available in both the relaxed and elegant a la carte restaurant and whisky bar, offering the same menu. The restaurant offers a slightly more formal setting with breathtaking views overlooking the marina.
The menu features freshly prepared local ingredients wherever possible. Local seafood is one of the specialties and have an abundance freshly delivered daily during the summer months from the local fishermen.
Whiskey Bar
The Island of Islay is world famous for its Malt Whisky with each of the 8 current distilleries on the Island producing its’ own unique style and flavour. In the Islay Hotel Whisky Bar they have Malts from Port Ellen, Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Ardbeg, Bruichladdich, Bowmore, Bunnahabhain, Caol ila and the new distillery at Kilchoman.
You can familiarise yourself with all the Islay Malts in the Islay Hotel Whisky bar, with a fine selection of malt whisky and a special list of collectors’ Islay malts to choose from. The Whisky Bar is also well stocked with lslay & Jura gins and serve the same menu as in the Restaurant, but in a slightly more relaxed atmosphere.
During the summer months local traditional musicians playing in the bar most Thursday and Saturday nights.
