Bridge of Dee Station House, Castle Douglas – Situated in a beautiful rural setting with stunning views. The Former Bridge of Dee Station house Bed & Breakfast near Castle Douglas provides an ideal location from which to explore the delights of Dumfries and Galloway.
The property is easily found being located 3 miles west of the thriving market town of Castle Douglas well known locally for its excellent selection of independant shops as well as being the regions “Food Town”. Local activities such as golf, fishing and water sports are easily accessed from this central point. Galloway is also famous for its forest parks and fantastic hill walking as well as a beautiful local coastline.
There are two letting rooms both with private facilities and both are beautifully furnished. Room 1 has an ensuite wet room attached with shower, toilet and wash basin. Room 2 has an ensuite shower, toilet and wash basin.
Guests have the exclusive use of our large conservatory where breakfast is served but which is also furnished as a lounge and is a beautifully relaxing place to sit and enjoy the panoramic views out over the surrounding countryside and the local wild life and bird population. There is also full sky TV in the conservatory.
The Old Station House
Experience the luxury of staying in our 1957 converted carriage situated in the Old Railway Station at Bridge of Dee. Two double rooms with private facilities and a childrens bunk room. Fully fitted kitchen and beautifully appointed lounge area. Loads of play area in a safe environment and fabulous views over the local countryside. An unmissable experience.
The carriage was built in 1957 by the Gloucester Carriage & Wagon Company, diagram 181 Type BSK (Second class brake corridor) running number E351089.
Allocated to the Eastern Region of BR and ran between London and other East Coast routes based at Cricklewood North London. It was withdrawn from service in 1975 and converted for use as a Mess Coach for a three part maintenance team and renumbered ADB 975465. It was allocated to Toton depot near Nottingham but was also based near Paddington for a time and at St Phillips Marsh, Bristol.
We located it in Stoke on Trent in 2009 and had it transported by road to Bridge of Dee.
