A family run hotel with eleven bedrooms, all en-suite, some newly transformed with bespoke furnishings and luxury wet rooms, and is open all year round. The Hotel cooking makes excellent use of Islay’s local produce including beef, lamb and seafood all of which is served in the beautifully appointed dining room.
The hotel bar stocks a selection of Islay’s famous malt whiskies. The bar also has the full Sky TV Sports package showing all Scottish and English Premier League football matches.
The hotel offers FREE Wi-Fi access (with a 30 min time limit) along with full oil-fired central heating and double glazing. We also have a decking area at the rear of the hotel for the benefit of smokers and al fresco diners alike with views overlooking Loch Indaal.
BBQs are held on a Sunday throughout the spring, summer and autumn, and also at Guy Fawkes and New Year’s day weather permitting.
Bowmore village is home to the world famous Bowmore Distillery, the equally famous Round Church and the Mactaggart Leisure Centre.
Bowmore is also the main shopping centre on the island and encompasses a recently re-furbished harbour development with boat moorings.
Accommodation
The Bowmore Hotel is the oldest hotel in Bowmore. The ground floor, dining room, lounge bar and bar, have undergone extensive renovations to bring the building back to what it was when it was built. Whinstone walls, Canadian Red pine which is a lovely backdrop for the Scottish Elm furniture installed by Scottish Designer, Paul Hodgkiss from Glasgow.
We now have five “family and friends” rooms sleeping up to five people. The rates for these rooms depend on occupancy of each room. Please telephone the hotel for a quotation.
The hotel has full oil fired central heating, double glazing and an al fresco terraced area to the back for summer dining.
The Restaurant
The Bowmore Hotel is well know for it’s good food at great prices. Our chefs go that extra mile to provide enjoyable home-cooked meals. They use only the finest quality ingredients many of which are sourced locally. Our extensive menu ensures that even the fussiest eaters wont be left hungry – or disappointing for that matter.
The Bar
The lounge bar is used at lunchtime for bar lunches from 12 noon until 3 p.m.ish. Also at nighttime for meals from 6pm to 9pm with last orders at 8.45. (flexible in the summer for people off the late ferry).
The hotel bar is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed drink. Whether you prefer a quiet drink or to be in the thick of the social scene, you will feel at home in The Bowmore.
