Argyll Hotel, Isle of Iona – a small owner operated hotel nestled in the village street overlooking the Sound of Iona.
We aim to provide a home away from home with all the comforts of great food and attentive service.
Katy, Daf, Wendy and Rob and the team welcome you to The Argyll Hotel and continue the great tradition of Hebridean hospitality. We are a small hotel and want you to feel relaxed and ‘at home from home’. The hotel is a great base for you to explore and enjoy the magical island of Iona.
Our staff aims to make your stay as comfortable as possible and we pride ourselves on our service and attention to detail with our guests.
Accommodation
As a Hotel built in the 1800’s you will find rooms in the main building of the hotel all different unique shapes and sizes; our rooms are not the biggest but they are cosy and comfortable. You can see pictures and a description of our rooms – just select the room you require. Our Single rooms and Garden double are found in the annex of the Hotel. This was built in the 70’s and has been recently redecorated and the bathrooms refurbished. We have more plans for improvements over the next couple of years.
All our bedrooms have tea making facilities, hair-dryers, alarm clocks and hot water bottles are available at reception. All but one of our rooms are en suite. We have a variety of bathrooms, some with just baths, some with showers over baths and some with walk in showers. If specific facilities are a priority please inform us on booking. Hypo-allergenic bedding instead of feathers can be requested. If you have additional needs during your stay please tell us as soon as you think of then and we will do everything we can to arrange things for you!
Restaurant
We pride ourselves on provenance. Handcrafted meals are created by Richard, using only the finest garden and local vegetables, shell fish, sustainably landed fish, lamb, hogget and organic dairyproducts. Local crofters supply us with lamb and hogget (second year lamb), some pork and soon beef too! We are continuing to work with local crofters to maximize their income from their produce by supplying us directly. Much of the rest of our beef, game and pork is sourced directly from the Mull Slaughterhouse, helping the wider Mull & Iona food producing community.
